    Has anyone tried growing trees in pots? I know it sounds weird, but I think it is doable.

    I have not tried it but know many people who have. There is nothing weird about it. The tree will grow only as big as the space it gets. If you put a tree in a pot, its roots will not be too big and hence the tree will be small too. This is the concept used in bonsais.
