    Do butterflies mate for life?

    Butterflies do not stay with the same mate. Butterflies use visual cues (like the color of the wings) to find their mate. Many butterflies use pheromones (complex chemicals made by butterflies, moths, and many other insects) to find mates and to signal that they are ready to mate.
