I often hear about people starting plants in their house so they can get a jump start in the spring.

I live in Ohio (northern) and I want to start growing something.  I am in a new house so this will be my first year in the yard.  I plan on having both a butterfly garden and a vegetable garden, as well as plants planted around the house.

Any tips or ideas would be appreciated.

I have a big utility room I can plant things and a semi-heated garage.

    Thanks!
