    You need to put a lot of colorful flowers… and have some that are always in bloom.

    flowers are important, but so are plants that the caterpillars can eat too. And they need sunny locations too.

    You need to do research of what butterflies are in your area. Find a butterfly book for your area – maybe one in a library. Then find out what plants they like. You can attract butterflies to your garden with good nectar plants and to keep butterflies longer in your garden, then plant caterpillar plants.
