Marigold dying

My daughter gifted me a marigold plant on my birthday. I repotted it and the plant was doing well. I went away for a week and my neighbor forgot to water it and now the plant is dying. The lower stem is red but the leaves look healthy. Can I save this plant in some way?

Oh, so sorry to hear that. Looks like your marigold is bidding farewell to you. Why don't you ask your daughter for seeds so that you can grow them afresh?
