Why do people release butterflies at weddings? Does it bring good luck or is it just to include a good deed in your wedding?

Some people believe it is good luck. BUT there is a responsibility to releasing them. They are expensive. There are care instructions on the box, such as keeping out of sunlight and heat. Then there is the worry of the weather.

How much do they cost? How many do people let go, 5, 10, 50, 100? What kind are they, just Monarchs?

There are various butterflies you can release at a wedding. Monarchs, Painted Ladies and there may be others. I know Monarchs may be 12 for $125.
