Ivy harmful to buildings?

I have an ivy growing next to my house. I have heard that ivy is dangerous to buildings? Is this true?

Yes, ivy can be harmful to buildings. I don't have any personal experience, but I have heard enough to know this. It's better you get rid of it. |
